Mobile Signal Boosters

Norske Tog has installed signal boosters on 176 train sets. For passengers, this will mean better, more stable coverage when travelling by train.

Cab Radio

Cab radio systems are a safety system designed to ensure that radio contact is maintained between trains and train traffic controllers. The cab radio systems used at present are no longer in production and it is now necessary to procure new systems.

ERTMS

The current outdated technology will be replaced with a databased signalling system that is common for all European countries.

New Commuter Trains

Norske tog has entered an agreement with Alstom to buy 30 commuter trains to replace the current commuter train, Class 69, which has reached its estimated lifetime.

Mid-life upgrade of Class 72

The Italian class 72 trains have reached the middle of their service lives and are now getting upgrades that will prepare them for many more years of service. When they return from a makeover stay in Sweden, they will be both more modern and reliable.

New long-distance trains

Several of the current long-distance trains are more than 40 years old and approaching the end of their service life. Norske tog have therefore signed an agreement with the Swiss train manufacturing company Stadler to acquire 17 new long-distance trains, with an option to buy up to 100 trains in total.
