Night trains have become a key issue in Norwegian transport policy, especially after the government and SV agreed to establish night trains to Copenhagen by 2030, as part of the agreement on the revised national budget before the summer. That's why Norske tog wanted to highlight this theme at our event during Arendalsuka.

To create an optimal night train service in Norway, it is interesting to draw inspiration from ÖBB, which is a leader in Europe in this area. Kurt Bauer, responsible for long-distance trains at ÖBB, opened the event with a presentation on how they have developed their night train service and how they plan to further develop it. He emphasized the importance of connecting the night train network in Scandinavia with the rest of Europe, and was a strong supporter of establishing night trains from Oslo to Copenhagen.

This was followed by an engaging panel discussion with Kurt Bauer and the CEOs of Vy, SJ AB and Go-Ahead. The panel discussed, among other things, the recent agreement on overnight trains to Copenhagen, and there was broad agreement in the panel that it is possible to establish the service by 2030.

The event was concluded by train enthusiast Jonas Ali Ghanizadeh, who shared his experiences from his impressive train journey from Trondheim to Gambia. The audience laughed out loud at his vivid and funny travel stories.

Thank you to all the participants and audience members who contributed to a successful event!
